In February 2007, the Back Pain Relief Association board approved a new Strategic Plan for the Back Pain Relief Association. This Strategic Plan places people affected by back, neck and joint pain at the centre of all activities undertaken by the Back Pain Relief Association.

Vision

A healthy world free of back, neck and joint pain.

Mission

To turn back, neck and joint pain around through awareness, prevention, detection, management and natural self healing.

Priorities

In turning back, neck and joint pain around the Back Pain Relief Association has a number of priorities. These priorities are detailed below:

Focus Area

Priority for Back Pain Relief Association

Awareness

Raising awareness of the prevalence and seriousness of all types of back, neck and joint pain, the risk factors for developing back conditions and the personal, social and economic implications of the back, neck and joint pain epidemic.

Prevention

Prevention of back, neck and joint pain by developing healthier individuals and community, especially children; promoting physical activity, healthy eating and built-environments that encourage gentle activity.

Detection

Early detection of people at high risk of back, neck and joint pain and those who have undiagnosed back, neck and joint pain to facilitate targeted early intervention strategies.

Management

Best practice management which requires increasing affordability and access to natural health care teams, professionals and services for all people with all types of back, neck and joint pain as an integral component of self-management.

Self Healing

Increased funding for and greater priority given to back, neck and joint pain research for all types of back, neck and joint pain and across the spectrum of the dis-ease with the ultimate aim of teaching natural self-care.

In pursuing these priorities, the Back Pain Relief Association is focusing on three key strategies.
